The top seeded Alabama Crimson Tide has struggled this season starting quickly in early tip-offs this season. That was not the case today as the Tide boat-raced the Mississippi State Bulldogs 85-48 in the opening game of today's SEC quarterfinals.

Alabama senior Herb Jones was named one of ten semifinalists for the Naismith Trophy, Alabama Basketball announced earlier Thursday.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama seniors Herbert Jones and John Petty were determined not to end their home Alabama careers with a loss to Auburn. Jaden Shackelford and Jahvon Quinerly were determined to help make that happen.

The SEC announced today that the Alabama Crimson Tide (18-6, 13-2) will play the Georgia Bulldogs (14-9, 7-9) in Athens on Saturday March 6 at 1 p.m. CT. The Crimson Tide has this game added to its schedule due to the postponement of its trip to Texas A&M on Feb. 18.

The No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide (18-6, 13-2) fell to the No. 20 Arkansas Razorbacks (18-5, 10-4) 81-66 on the road, failing to capitalize on its opportunity to secure the SEC regular season championship. Arkansas is now riding an eight-game winning streak in the SEC after the victory.

"We're getting closer to being full strength and being healthy, getting Bruner back helps, you know, everyday in practice, every game he's going to get a little bit better," said Oats.

Alabama has been dealing with a handful of injuries this season, and now star Senior Herbert Jones playing status is in question. Jones has been banged up for quite some time now, and many have been asking the question if he should rest.

Jones battled through a hand injury last season and is dealing with a back injury among other minor injuries this year. Still, the senior is averaging 11.4 PPG, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game this season.

Alabama is currently nationally ranked in 11 sports and has impressive athletes competing in all the athletic programs. The Alabama Crimson Tide (14-3, 9-0) defeated the Kentucky Wildcats (5-10, 4-4) 70-59 to emerge victorious in both contests with the 'Cats in the 2020-21 regular season. It is the first time Alabama has defeated Kentucky twice in a season since 1988-89. The Crimson Tide remains undefeated in conference play and in firm control of the top position.
