Happy Endings

Just when we thought we'd never have a chance to talk 'Happy Endings' again! Yes, it's true, the major hopes of seeing the beloved ABC comedy resurrected from cancellation were recently dashed by Sony TV's contract expiration, but that doesn't mean we'll never know what was to become of the 'Happy Endings' gang in season 4!

Terribly un-"amahzing" news for 'Happy Endings' fans, as it seems all attempts to save the cancelled ABC series on another network has failed, and cast members Zachary Knighton, Casey Wilson, Elisha Cuthbert, Damon Wayans Jr., Eliza Coupe and Adam Pally have all been released from their contracts at Sony TV. Curse you, retrospectively ironic titles!

A few weeks ago we learned that 'Happy Endings' creator David Caspe had signed a new overall development deal at Sony Pictures TV, potentially one of the final nails in the coffin for the beloved and cancelled ABC series. The USA deal appears to have definitely fallen through, so is there any hope remaining for 'Happy Endings' in the coming weeks?

Like most of you, we're still feeling the loss of ABC's 'Happy Endings' after its untimely cancellation this past May, made all the worse but USA's apparent decision to pass on picking up a fourth season. And while negotiations theoretically remain ongoing at other networks, 'Happy Endings' showrunner David Caspe seems to have moved on with a new overall deal at Sony Pictures TV.

Long before ABC officially announced that 'Happy Endings' would produce no more episodes beyond the third season, USA had expressed an interest in purchasing the critical darling in its push for original comedies. The Upfronts came and went with no official change of hand, but has USA's plan to resurrect 'Happy Endings' season 4 now fallen apart?

In Super Ultimate Major Bummer News, ABC cancelled my favorite TV comedy, Happy Endings. I should have known this was coming, as the network moved the series to 7pm on Friday Nights, which was essentially a death sentence. NOT COOL, ABC. USA is rumored to be considering the series for its lineup of original programming.

And so, as general chaos emerges from ABC between the pickup of Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' and the multiple renewals being vomited forth, 'Happy Endings' fans are subject to some very sad news. Not only has the beloved ABC comedy been cancelled, but along with it 'Red Widow,' 'Malibu Country, 'How To Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life)' and 'Body of Proof.'
