More Than Just A Game
It’s often times like these I’m reminded sports are more than just a game. As Alabama baseball’s season comes to a close, I can’t help but feel such a bittersweet sadness. Any enthusiastic sports fan dreads the end of a season, but for me the feeling goes a little deeper than the ending of a NCAA tournament run.

The noise emanating in the Hoover Met was not the sound of thunder from a pending storm but instead the clap of Tennessee bats. Just two days after losing to the Crimson Tide in extra-innings, Tennessee hammered the Crimson Tide 11-0 to eliminate Alabama from the SEC Tournament in just seven innings.

Perhaps the most important thing happening is Alabama baseball making its SEC Tournament run for the first time since 2016 and playing in the winners bracket Thursday taking on 6th seed Florida. Statistically speaking, Bama needs one more conference win to get to that sweet spot of 15 total conference wins to make a run at the NCAA tournament.

According to Rick Pendley, Vice President of Alabama’s baseball booster organization, Alabama baseball is officially Hoover bound for the SEC Tournament. The announcement comes after a Missouri loss paired with an inevitable Auburn or Texas A&M series loss this coming weekend. Missouri will finish last in the SEC East and the loser of the Auburn/Texas A&M series this weekend will finish last in the SEC West standings.
