At 615 AM CST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Pleasant Grove to near Low Gap. Movement was east at 55 mph. Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms. Locations impacted include... Birmingham, southeastern Tuscaloosa, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Alabaster, Bessemer, Homewood, Pelham, Mountain Brook, Trussville, Helena, Hueytown, Pell City, Irondale, Leeds, Moody, Calera, Fairfield, Chelsea and Fultondale. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
