ShoalsFest 2019: 5 Incredible Moments
Jason Isbell brought his inaugural ShoalsFest home to his native stomping grounds, the Muscle Shoals area of northern Alabama, on Saturday (Oct. 5). The one-day festival took place in the riverside McFarland Park in Florence, Ala., bringing about 5,000 concertgoers together for a stacked day of music.
On the main stage, Isbell featured a lineup of some of Americana's brightest stars and his closest collaborators. Amanda Shires -- solo artist and Highwomen bandmate, as well as Isbell's wife and a member of his band, the 400 Unit -- kicked off the performances on Saturday afternoon, followed by R&B icon Mavis Staples and rock stalwart Sheryl Crow. Isbell and his band closed out the festivities with a headlining performance of their own, delivered to a voracious hometown crowd.
Meanwhile, the event also featured performances on a second stage dedicated to Single Lock Records, a label based in Florence. Run by solo artist and former Civil Wars member John Paul White, the Single Lock Stage showcased up-and-coming artists such as Caleb Elliott, the Prescriptions, the Kernal and Rob Aldridge & the Proponents.
