Wednesday

On Wednesday, November 25th, the National Weather Service Birmingham has alerted us that “showers & storms will move in Wed afternoon & Wed night ahead of a cold front. We may see enough of a combo of shear/instability for a few severe storms to develop. Currently, the low-end chance looks to be along & west of a Birmingham to Selma line.”

There are parts of our coverage area that are under a marginal risk area. This means there is the potential for isolated damaging winds to 60 mph and a brief tornado. As of right now, the timeline for severe weather potential is from 3 pm until 10 pm. Also, the NWS noted that the “area of concern is generally along and west of a line from Birmingham to Selma. Damaging wind gusts will be the primary concern, although a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.”

Thanksgiving

On Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, November 26th, there is the possibility for isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms early morning. This will be generally south of I-20 with the best chances south of I-85. Then the day will transition into sunny skies with a high of 72 with calm winds.

Black Friday and Iron Bowl Saturday

There is the possibility of wet weather on Friday and Saturday.  Friday will have increasing clouds with scattered shows. Then that will develop into the afternoon and evening with increasing rain chances. Saturday, there could be a break in the wet weather for the Iron Bowl game. I would still suggest packing light rain gear.

Sunday

As we look ahead to Sunday, there could be heavier rain and possible thunderstorms. There will be more to come on this as we will continue to monitor this system. Also, next week get ready for the colder air that could bring freezing temperatures.
