Tornadoes and damaging winds are possible today as severe storms make their way across the state. The National Weather Service in Birmingham has placed areas southwest of Tuscaloosa in an enhanced risk area for storms today, while areas northeast have been placed in a slight risk area.

Primary threats include damaging winds of up to 60 miles per hour and tornadoes, and tornadoes have a greater chance of occurring in the enhanced risk area. Storms could begin as early as 4 p.m. this afternoon and continue through 10 p.m. tonight.
