Former Louisville head coach and Huntsville, AL native, Ron Cooper, is set to join the Tide staff for the upcoming season, per Matt Zenitz of Al.com.

Similar to what coaches like Butch Jones have done in the past, Cooper will joining the Alabama staff as an analyst.

Cooper was the head coach at Louisville from 1995-97, also holding jobs at Alabama A&M and Eastern Michigan, recording a 49-59 record. The three-time head coach has also held position coaching jobs at many SEC schools, including Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Arkansas, South Carolina and, most notably, LSU.

In his time at LSU, Cooper was responsible for the defensive backs and coached players like Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, Morris Claiborne and Eric Reid, helping lead them to the second ranked pass defense in 2011, behind Alabama.

Outside of his collegiate experience, Cooper also brings with him more NFL coaching experience to an already stacked staff, having been the defensive backs coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012.
