With the departure of Kyle Flood to Texas, the Crimson Tide have been looking for a top notch candidate to fill their offensive line coach vacancy.

The speculation was that Philadelphia Eagles OL coach Jeff Stoutland would be hired to take over for Flood, but that report was apparently incorrect.

According to ESPN Senior Writer Chris Low, Alabama is working on finalizing a deal to make former NFL head coach, Doug Marrone their new offensive line coach.

After a short and unsuccessful stint with the Buffalo Bills, Marrone served as an assistant under Gus Bradley. When Bradley was fired by owner Shahid Khan, Marrone took over as the interim head coach before ultimately becoming the full time coach.

In 2017 he led the Jacksonville Jaguars to an AFC Championship, but the team fell flat to the New England Patriots 24-20.

The Jaguars took a step back in 2018 and after a one win season in 2020 they made the decision to fire Marrone.

This would be the second former NFL head coach Nick Saban has hired this off-season, after former Houston Texans coach Bill O'Brien was announced as the teams new offensive coordinator

Despite losing three of their starting offensive lineman, Landon Dickerson, Alex Leatherwood, and Deonte Brown, Marrone will inherit a great deal of talent from returning players and new commits.

In the 2021 class Bama has two five-star OT's, Tommy Brockermeyer and JC Latham, along with Terrence Ferguson the No. 2 rated OG.

The team has yet to officially announce the hire, but expect the two sides to put pen to paper within the next few weeks.
