14 years have passed since the tragic murder of a young Northport man and authorities are still looking for his killer.

17-year-old Jeremy Scott Cockrell was shot and killed in his Northport home on June 22, 2006. Cockrell's body was discovered by friends who had arrived to pick him up and take him to the lake.

There was evidence of forced entry, and in the days preceding his murder, a late 90's model white Ford Escort was scene near his home on multiple occasions. The vehicle had Jefferson County tags and was occupied by both a black man and a white man.

The Tuscaloosa County Sherrif's Office is still seeking information leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with Cockrell's death. Anyone with details about the case is asked to contact the Tuscaloosa County Violent Crimes Unit at 205-464-8690, Jefferson County CrimeStoppers at 205-254-7777, or Tuscaloosa County CrimeStoppers at 205-752-STOP.
