Pixies Announce ‘Beneath the Eyrie’ Album, Reveal ‘On Graveyard Hill’ Single
The Pixies' second act continues with the band ready to unleash their seventh studio album, Beneath the Eyrie, this fall. The 12-song collection will be their third studio album since reuniting, and the announcement comes just as the band revealed their new single "On Graveyard Hill." Take a listen to the track at the bottom of this post.
The band have set a Sept. 13 street date (yes, that's a Friday 13th) for the album, which embodies a darker and more ominous side for the veteran rockers. The album is available to pre-order in a variety of formats at this location. The group has also inked a new record deal with Infectious / BMG Worldwide.
The band worked on the album with producer Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Royal Blood) last year near Woodstock, New York. The album title comes from working at the Dreamland Recordings studio, where David Lovering spotted an eagles nest (known as an "eyrie"), while outside of the studio during a break in recording.
During recording for the album, the band decided to open things up and give fans some insight into their process, documenting their studio work over a 12-episode podcast simply titled, It's a Pixies Podcast, that will debut June 27 via Apple, Spotify, Acast, Stitcher, Google and other podcasting platforms.
Look for Pixies returning to the road in support of their album. After a one-off U.S. date at The Cure's Daydream Festival in August, the band will head to Europe for shows this fall. See the dates listed below and get ticketing info here.
