Focus Features has announced that they will be working with Paul Thomas Anderson on his upcoming untitled feature film, set to begin production in Spring/Summer of 2020. The production company collaborated with Anderson previously on his last feature Phantom Thread, which won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design and was nominated for Best Picture, Director, Score, Actor for Daniel Day Lewis, and Supporting Actress for Lesley Manville. According to their official press release, “long time collaborators” JoAnne Sellar and Daniel Lupi will produce the project alongside Anderson. Says Focus chairman Peter Kujawski:

“There is simply no other filmmaker like Paul Thomas Anderson.  He is a true original who consistently mesmerizes fans with unparalleled vision and storytelling.  We are beyond thrilled to be teaming up once again with Paul, JoAnne and Daniel.”

While further details have yet to be released, it was announced earlier in November that Anderson will be returning to his Boogie Nights roots and set his next movie in the 1970s, around the San Fernando Valley region where he grew up. The film’s plot will be centered around a high school boy but will be ensemble in nature.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s untitled project will be distributed by Focus Features domestically and Universal Pictures International overseas.
