Nick Saban Responds to Jimbo Fisher’s Comments
The offseason is the talking season and with spring practices concluded and the NFL Draft come and gone, we have officially made it to the offseason. Last week, while meeting with the Houston Touchdown Club, Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher assured his fans that he would beat Alabama while Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban is still in charge of the nation's top program.
Saban was asked last night about Fisher's comments in which he assured his fan base that he would beat Saban.
"In golf?" asked Saban. The legendary coach smiled and when reporters insinuated that Fisher was referring to football.
"Well I'm sure there will come a day," said Saban.
Saban holds a perfect 23-0 record against his former assistant coaches and each year in the SEC he puts his undefeated record on the line against coaches like Jimbo Fisher, Lane Kiffin and Kirby Smart.
Saban went on to call Texas A&M a great program and said their team presents a challenge to the Crimson Tide year-in and year-out. Alabama is 11-2 all-time against the Texas A&M Aggies and are 8-1 against the Aggies since they joined the SEC.
The seven-time national champion has a perfect 4-0 record against his former assistant coach. Fisher's closest game was in 2017 when his Aggies fell 27-19 at home.
Fisher served as offensive coordinator at LSU under Saban from 2000-04. Together the two of them won the 2003 BCS National Championship.
