Conditions continue to worsen across the state as a winter storm impacts Alabama today and into the evening hours. The National Weather Service in Birmingham has now added several new counties into the existing Winter Storm Warning.

Sleet and freezing rain have already begun to fall in Tuscaloosa and West Alabama, and a number of traffic accidents have already been reported. Conditions will continue to deteriorate, so it's important to avoid travel if you can.
