Donovan Johnson 44, has been captured and returned to Greene County, to stand trial for the murder of 29-year-old Ollie Carpenter in 1996, after close to two decades on the run.

Greene County authorities say that Johnson and another man were awaiting trial for that murder when they escaped back in June 1998.

Authorities say that Johnson was living in Chicago at the time of his arrest last Friday.
A tip led to Johnson's arrest, where he was living under the assumed name of Phillip Thomas.

Greene County District Attorney Greg Griggers says that Johnson shot 4 people, killing Carpenter and injuring three others. Johnson is now being charged with Escape.
