Netflix’s ‘Mindhunter’ Will Officially Hunt Minds Through Season 2
The security of Netflix renewals is no longer what it once was, but consider one of our 2017 faves safe. The moody cerebral drama of David Fincher’s Netflix Mindhunter has a whole lot of serial killers left to profile, now that Season 2 has its formal greenlight.
Netflix confirmed as much early Thursday, albeit without specifying an exact episode order or likely 2018 premiere window. The David Fincher-directed, Charlize Theron-produced series hit the streaming service in October, and has quietly earned raves for stars Jonathan Groff, Anna Torv, Holt McCallany and relative newcomer (soon to be Dragon Tattoo star) Cameron Britton. Enjoy a cheeky Season 2 announcement teaser in the meantime:
At the very least, we do have some early word of what Season 2 would entail. Fincher told Billboard prior to the renewal that a second Mindhunter season was likely to follow the “Atlanta Child Murders” of 1979-1981, in which twenty-eight African-American children, teens, and young adults were kidnapped and killed. Per TVLine, Season 2 is also casting a role likely to be that of the infamous (now-deceased) Charles Manson, whose notoriety was frequently mentioned over the course of Season 1.
We’ll likely hear more of Mindhunter Season 2 in the coming months, so stay tuned for the latest.
