Mid-Day Update: Severe Storms, Flooding in Portions of Alabama
It seems like week after week since Severe Weather Season kicked off, we have some sort of weather conditions to monitor. Today, we are closely monitoring the potential for severe storms and flooding issues. A cold front will move through Central Alabama. The National Weather Service in Birmingam notes that the “threat will end from northwest and southeast for all of Central Alabama as the front clears.”

Flood Warning for the Tombigbee River at Gainesville Local And Damn until April 1st at 11:00 pm
Flood Warning for Tombigbee River at Bevill Lock and Dam until March 31st at 9:50 pm
Areal Flood Advisory for Jefferson, St. Clair and Tuscaloosa until 3:00 pm
Flash Flood Warning for Etowah County until March 31st at 2:15 pm
Flash Flood Warning for Blount, Walker, and Winston counties until 1:45 pm.
Flood Warning for Tombigbee River at Demopolis Lock and Dam until further notice.
Flood Warning for the Black Warrior River at Selden Lock and Dam until further notice.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 5:00 pm for Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Green, Hale, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Russell, Sumter, and Tallapoosa.

Today, Wednesday, March 31, 2021, portions of our coverage area are in either a marginal risk or slight risk zone. Our timeline started this morning and runs until 6p for Central Alabama. Our immediate coverage areas could be clear as earlier as 2 pm and others by 4 pm.
Slight Risk: Damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-sized hail
Marginal Risk: Isolated damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour.
