It's time to grab a mug of cocoa and cozy up with some of the greatest holiday films of all time. I'll spotlight one of my favorites each day until we reach #1.

Meg's Top Ten Favorite Christmas Movies

Number Three: Home Alone 2: Lost In New York (1992)

Rarely is a sequel better than the original, but in this case, Home Alone 2 edges out Home Alone in my personal pantheon of awesomeness. Kevin is all on his own in the biggest city in the world. He gets to stay at The Plaza Hotel. THE PLAZA, Y'ALL. There are cameos from Tim Curry, Donald Trump, and even Ally Sheedy. Kevin gets to eat pizza in a limo. A LIMO. This blew my mind when I was a kid. And Duncan's Toy Chest? I'm pretty sure that's what heaven looks like. And don't get me started on the Talkboy... which I made my parents buy, BTW...

Home Alone 2 finds Kevin in NYC for Christmas after yet another mishap at the airport. You really think the McCallisters would take transportation a little more seriously after what happened to Kevin a few years ago, but oddly enough, no... while they're in Florida, Kevin is maxxing out his dad's credit card at The Plaza Hotel. He runs in to the recently-escaped (and renamed) Sticky Bandits and must bust out his MacGuyver skills again to prevent Marv and Harry from stealing cash from a children's charity.

Tim Curry's facial expressions in this movie KILL me.

Favorite moments in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York: Kevin versus Buzz in the Christmas program, the McCallister clan bustling about after oversleeping again (why do these people not invest in better alarm clocks? They're obviously rich, so it's not as if they can't afford working time pieces), Kevin's entrance into the Plaza hotel, "This is Peter McCallister... the father," when Kevin tips the bell boy (Rob Schneider) with gum, "Credit Card? You got it!" Kevin's chat with Mr. Duncan, meeting the bird lady in Central Park, Marv's getting electrocuted, "Merry Christmas, you filthy animal!" Tim Curry, two turtledoves, more Tim Curry, and Kevin's Dad when he receives the Plaza bill.

I remember my sister and I had a Home Alone 2 movie poster hanging up in our shared bedroom. As previously stated, I had a pretty serious Macauly Culkin crush. Our Home Alone 2 VHS also broke from one too many viewings. I am now the proud owner of a digital copy, so we'll be watching again this year... and next year... and the year after that.

Next up on the countdown: just try to have a Christmas season without this movie; I double-dog dare you...
