Man Shot During Robbery in Tuscaloosa Friday
A Tuscaloosa man was shot during the course of a robbery Friday morning, police sources say.
Lt. Jack Kennedy, the assistant commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the victim was sitting in his vehicle in the 3000 block of 48th Place East when a man approached him around 1 a.m. and demanded his cell phone and wallet.
Kennedy said in the course of the robbery, the suspect fired multiple shots and the victim was struck one time in his abdomen. He is being treated for his injuries, which Kennedy said do not appear to be life-threatening.
Kennedy said investigators are investigating the shooting and combing the scene for physical evidence, but asked anyone who witnessed the shooting or who has any relevant information to contact the VCU at 205-464-8690.
