Tuscaloosa police have arrested a man after an incident on March 20th.

Captian Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit said investigators responded to an area around Cottondale at 7:00 AM on March 20th on reports of a sexual offense. The VCU also immediately assumed control of the investigation.

During the investigation, the VCU discovered evidence that led to the arrest of the suspect, Jamarcus Keaundre Perry, 29. Perry was charged with First Degree Rape.

According to a press release by the VCU, Perry was previously arrested in November 2021, on counts of First Degree Sexual Abuse and First Degree Sodomy. He was out on bond for those offenses.

Because of this new offense, according to the VCU, Perry was committed to jail without bond.

The identity of the victims and location of where the crimes took place has not been released, to protect the privacy of both according to the VCU.
