Mac and Najee Turn Back the Clock to End The Pro Bowl

Former Alabama standouts and NFL rookies Mac Jones and Najee Harris ended their reunion in the Pro Bowl the same way they ended their last game together at Alabama: with a win.

Holding onto a 41-35 lead with 2 minutes remaining in the game, the AFC team decided to go for it on fourth and two at their own 33 yard line to effectively end the game instead of punting it, as the NFC team had no timeouts left to stop them from kneeling. On the game sealing play, Jones passed the ball up the middle to Harris for seven yards.

On the play before the fourth down pass from Jones to Harris, the Patriots QB ran from the AFC 29 all the way to the endzone for what would've been a touchdown in a normal game, but the whistle was blown four yards into the run due to a couple NFC defenders touching Jones as he ran by and thus "tackling" him in Pro Bowl standards. After making it to the endzone Jones performed 'The Griddy', an endzone dance that has been popularized in the NFL by Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, creating one of the best moments of the game.

Jones led all AFC QBs, which also consisted of Chargers QB Justin Herbert and former MVP and Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, in passing yards with 112 yards and completions, completing 12 passes in the game. During his rookie season, Jones had 3,801 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in a season that he helped lead the Patriots to their first playoff appearance since the 2019 season. He also recorded the second highest completion percentage in a season by a rookie in NFL history.

Harris came in second place rushing wise for the AFC with five rushes for 15 yards in a game that only featured 29 carries between both teams. He also had once reception for seven yards, which was the game sealing pass from his college QB Jones. During the season, Harris had 1,200 yards rushing, 467 yards receiving, and 10 total touchdown in a season that he broke the Steelers rookie season rushing record and helped lead Pittsburgh to their second straight playoff appearance.

Going from the Pro Bowl, both former Bama stars officially enter the offseason as they prepare with their respective teams for the 2022 NFL season.
