ALDOT's beleaguered bridge project is one step closer to (finally) being completed.

Crews were on site this weekend to paint the arches of the new suspension bridge at exit 73 of Interstate 20/59. A portion of McFarland Boulevard was briefly closed while the arches received their crimson coat.

The Alabama Department of Transportation will now work to finalize the arch bridge by welding its suspension columns. ALDOT plans to have the project completed this summer.

The bridge project has been underway in Tuscaloosa since 2018.
