Jonathan Davis Breaks Down in Tears During Korn Set: ‘This Was My Wife’s Favorite Song’
Jonathan Davis broke down in tears multiple times during Korn's 20-year Follow the Leader show in San Francisco on Sept. 12. During the band's performance of "4U," he stopped with tears in his eyes and said, "This was my wife's favorite song. I'm sorry." (You can watch the moment at 1:43 in the video below.)
Davis ended the set in tears as well, embracing bandmate James "Munky" Shaffer for a notable amount of time. The crowd cheered loudly at the emotional moment. (You can watch video of that moment at 5:40 in the video below.)
This was the first Korn show since the death of Davis' wife, Deven. A press statement confirmed her passing on Aug. 17, which read, "The Davis family is brokenhearted over the devastating loss of Deven Davis. We ask that you respect their privacy—and the privacy of those close to the family—and allow them the space to mourn in private. We thank you for your love, understanding and prayers of support during this difficult time."
TMZ has reported that Jonathan Davis filed for divorce from Deven in 2016, and that he filed a domestic violence restraining order against her on Friday (Aug. 17). It reportedly would have blocked her from custody of their children, as well as visitation privileges. An official cause of death has yet to be revealed. She was 39 years old.
