One week after the horrific bombing at the Boston Marathon, Tuscaloosa runners are planning a run tonight in honor of the victims.  Ed Freeman of Wagner’s RunWalk in Midtown village says the course will be 2.62 miles, which is one tenth the distance of a marathon.  This event will begin at 6:30pm and it is free and open to the public.

The week ago terrorist act many miles away shocked us all here in Tuscaloosa.  Talking with people around town and different emotions had raced through our minds.    Runners are deeply saddened for this to happen at the cherished Boston Marathon.  This race is pretty much the Super Bowl of races for runners.  People from all over the county and the world enter to run it.  A celebrated race with streets lined with so many family and friends of the runners to cheer them on. We wonder why the senseless act of terror, the extreme injuries and the loss the life, why?

Monday night, Tuscaloosa runners will gather to pay our respect and honor the victims and offer encouragement for Boston to be strong.
