Tuscaloosa saw a hot and humid weekend as football season began in the Southeastern Conference, but the weekend ahead looks much cooler--both literally and figuratively.

A cold front is anticipated to move across the state today (Monday, September 28). Showers and thunderstorms are possible, and some could bring strong winds and heavy rainfall. The high today will be around 82 degrees.

But tomorrow?

Look for a high of just 70.

ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist James Spann says Alabamians can expect those cooler temperatures through the rest of the week.

Spann shared his latest forecast on his weather blog this morning, stating that we're FINALLY in for some great fall weather.

Expect picture perfect autumn weather. Sunny pleasant days, clear cool nights. The high will be in the mid 70s Wednesday and Thursday, but closer to 70 on Friday as a secondary push of cool air arrives. Lows will be in the upper 40s and low 50s for most communities.

I am very hype for sweater weather, friends. It is time to bust out the cardigans and boots, because it will FINALLY be my favorite time of year.

I love knowing that we're in for highs in the low 70s as we flip over the calendar to October. Ushering in Spooky Season with cool days and crisp nights makes me one very happy woman.

Oh, and Alabama's first home game of the strange 2020 season is set for Saturday, when the high will be just 72 degrees. You love to see it. You really do.
