Redshirt junior Jalyn Armour-Davis came up with his first career interception late in the first quarter of Alabama's 31-29 win over the Florida Gators on Saturday to open up conference play. Pressure from outside linebacker Drew Sanders forced a bad throw from quarterback Emory Jones.

The interception gave the Crimson Tide offense a short field and resulted in a seven-yard touchdown pass from Bryce Young to Brian Robinson Jr. that put Alabama up 21-3. Armour-Davis tallied one tackle, two pass breakups to go with his interception on the day.

The Alabama native returned to the starting lineup against the Gators after missing last weeks matchup against Mercer because of an undisclosed injury. Armour-Davis missed all of practice last week but returned to the field on Monday.

“We didn’t think that their injuries were all that serious to start with, but they were more serious than we anticipated,” said Nick Saban. "They weren't able to practice all week and I didn’t want to play guys in the game if they didn't practice against this offense, aight."

Armour-Davis had been a standout in Alabama's defense during its week one victory over the Miami Hurricanes. The veteran cornerback recorded two tackles and one pass breakup, displaying great athleticism and technique.

Nick Saban moves to 11-0 against Dan Mullen and the Crimson Tide extend their winning streak to 32 against SEC East opponents. Alabama will play Southern Miss, next Saturday, Sept. 25 inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.
