It has been a long road for Jalyn Armour-Davis, but the redshirt-junior cornerback made his first career start for Alabama on Saturday. A standout in spring practice and on A-Day, Armour-Davis was able to fend off a talented group of young corners behind him in fall camp.

Armour-Davis had been a little banged up in the Tide's last week of fall camp, but coach Saban said he was "really good, 100 percent, and no problems" during his Wednesday presser. The Alabama native was excellent in coverage all game against Miami and finished the day with two tackles and one pass breakup. The Tide were able to hold D'Eriq King to a measly 178 yards passing and a quarterback rating of 54.1.

Tabbed as a four-star prospect by every major recruiting outlet in the 2018 recruiting cycle, Armour-Davis was rated the No. 2 player in state of Alabama and the No. 11 cornerback according to 247Sports. He was a part of a recruiting class that featured fellow cornerbacks Patrick Surtain II and Josh Jobe.

As a freshman, Armour-Davis was set to make his Alabama debut, but he suffered a devastating season-ending knee injury during pregame warmups in Week 2. Following a redshirt season, Armour-Davis appeared in eight games in 2019 recording two tackles and two pass breakups. Last season, he was featured in Alabama's rotation as a backup while continuing to work on special teams. Armour-Davis received extended playing time in the national championship as the sixth defensive back in dime packages.

It hasn't been easy for Armour-Davis to get to this point in his career, but the future definitely is bright. Alabama will face off against Mercer, Saturday, Sep. 11 for their first home game of the season.
