A Moundville woman was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle accident in Hale County, Alabama State Troopers have confirmed.

Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Troopers in West Alabama, said they were called to the scene of a crashed vehicle on Alabama Highway 60 a few minutes before 11 a.m. Thursday.

The victim, 74-year-old Tracie Powell, was driving a 2009 Mazda CX-9 that reportedly left the roadway and struck a tree.

Corporal King said Powell, a Moundville resident, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which took place two miles north of Akron in Hale County.

Nothing other details were available Friday morning as Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
