A brief police standoff in Northport Thursday ended with multiple arrests, law enforcement leaders confirmed.

Keith Carpenter, the assistant chief of the Northport Police Department, said the incident stemmed from US Marshals going to a home in the 1400 block of Leland Drive in Northport to apprehend someone with an active warrant out for their arrest.

Carpenter said the wanted suspect was inside and uncooperative, leading to a brief standoff with the Marshals. Local law enforcement agencies including the Northport Police Department arrived on the scene to assist.

Ultimately, the Marshals took at least two suspects into custody, Carpenter said, and the incident is over without any threat to the public.
