1 Dead, Another Injured After Overnight Shooting in West Tuscaloosa
One person is dead and another was injured in an overnight shooting at west Tuscaloosa apartments before dawn Saturday morning.
Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, alerted local media to the killing a few minutes before 5 a.m.
Kennedy said the Tuscaloosa Police Department and VCU are in the 1700 Block of 40th Avenue in Tuscaloosa at Creekwood Village Apartments.
Kennedy said two males were shot, and one is deceased.
An investigation is ongoing and nothing further was available before sunrise Saturday.
If this bears out to be a homicide, it will be the 22nd the VCU has investigated so far in 2024, and the 16th homicide within the city of Tuscaloosa - the highest number in a single year in at least 20 years.
