As a massive severe weather system swept through the Midwest and the South, it brought death and devastation even to Alabama.

A widespread severe weather system impacted the Midwest and the South yesterday into this morning. The Weather Channel said that “overall, there were reports of more than 65 possible tornadoes in Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.”

This intense storm system kept millions of people on complete edge as they watched communities being torn apart. This outbreak overall has left “at least 12 people dead and dozens more hurt,” said The Weather Channel.

Alabama

In Madison County Alabama, according to WAAY, ABC 31, “a woman died when a radar-confirmed tornado hit her house on Borderline Road just east of Highway 431.”

Also, “two victims were in serious but stable condition while the third victim is in critical condition. Two other people were treated on the scene,” said WAAY, ABC 31

Impacts Felt Across the Midwest and South

In Illinois, concert attendees in Belvidere, Illinois, experienced complete terror as parts of the concert venue roof collapsed. The Weather Channel reported, that “officials said one person died in the roof collapse and 28 others were hurt, including five who were severely injured.”

Indiana was impacted as well. According to WTHR TV, “Sullivan County officials have declared a State of Emergency for areas affected by the tornado.” Also, they are reporting that 3 people have died.”

In Iowa, families raced to their safe place as tornadoes tore through their communities. According to The Gazette, “Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds is activating state disaster assistance for 7 Iowa Counties, as tornado-producing storms whipped through Eastern Iowa Friday night, leaving damage in several communities-- but thankfully no reported deaths so far-- in their wake.”

In Arkansas, there was much sadness as the state was truly impacted by death and destruction. According to THV11, “Little Rock was hit by what's being described as a "catastrophic" tornado by meteorologists on Friday, March 31 as severe storms moved throughout Arkansas.” The Arkansas death toll is at 5.
