Good morning West Alabama! It is back to work on Monday July 29,2024.

We go from Sunday flooding across West Alabama to a Heat Advisory for all of West Alabama through 9:00 Tuesday night. Heat indices could approach 107 degrees during the daytime hours today and tomorrow. Shower and thunderstorm activity is expected to be reduced.

It is important to remember to limit your time outdoors in the heat, hydrate frequently and do not leave humans or pets in unattended vehicles.

Heavy downpours and frequent lightning yesterday resulted in flash flooding because drainage systems could not handle the excessive water. Some areas saw water up to the bottom of car doors. Once the rain stopped water slowly drained.

Lightning strikes mounting into the hundreds knocked power off to several areas across West Alabama.
