September Weather Forecast: Key Changes to Expect in Alabama
Most Alabamians are ready for some cooler temperatures after many days of brutal conditions and alarming heat index values.
Meteorological fall spans from September 1 to November 30, whereas the autumnal - fall equinox on September 22 signifies the official onset of fall across the Northern Hemisphere.
Although parts of the United States, particularly in the West and the Plains, are set to experience above-average temperatures this September, the feeling of fall may still be on the horizon for our area.
According to The Weather Channel, the Southern region might soon enjoy some “sweater weather” as temperatures are predicted to be “slightly below average.”
However, there's a twist.
Todd Crawford, Vice President of Meteorology at Atmospheric G2 told The Weather Channel that they “expect the major population centers of the East to get significantly warmer in the back half of the month.”
Seriously, any relief from the heat will be welcomed.
From a precipitation standpoint, Alabama is divided near Central Alabama, with regions north experiencing above-average rainfall and areas south seeing near-average precipitation levels.
Alongside tracking temperatures and rainfall, we are monitoring hurricane season, which reaches its peak development in mid-September.
