Will Anderson Jr Named AFC Player of the Week
Former Crimson Tide Defensive End had a field day for the Houston Texans as they defeated the New England Patriots 41-21.
Will Anderson Jr was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance this past weekend.
Anderson Jr. concluded Week 6 with eight tackles, including four for loss, a career-high 3.0 sacks, and one pass defensed.
Anderson Jr. leads the NFL with nine tackles for loss after six games, and his 5.5 sacks are tied for eighth. Anderson's accolade marks the second time this season and the ninth time in team history that a Texan has been chosen Player of the Week in consecutive weeks. The award marks the 60th time a Texan has been selected Player of the Week and the 21st time a defensive player has received the distinction. Furthermore, the Texans have earned Player of the Week honors in four of the first six weeks of the season, the most in the NFL and franchise history through Week 6.
Before being selected as the 3rd pick (first round) in 2023 by the Houston Texans, Anderson Jr. spent three years at UA. The defensive lineman played 41 games, recorded 205 tackles (115 solo and 90 assisted), and 34.5 sacks. Anderson Jr. ranked second on Alabama's career sack list, trailing Derrick Thomas.
This upcoming Saturday, the Houston Texans travel to Lambeau Field as they face the Green Bay Packers at 12:00 P.M central time.
