“The Kalen DeBoer Show” Ahead of Vandy
Kalen DeBoer was joined by linebacker Jihaad Campbell ahead of the Crimson Tide's October 5 date with the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville, Tennessee. Here's what DeBoer and Campbell had to say about the 2-2 Commodores.
How does Alabama avoid the trap game on the road following an emotional win at home?
"Winning big games starts with enjoying the win but not having too much of a hyped celebration to where the energy and emotion doesn’t carry over into the next week," DeBoer said. "If you go out and lose, well then the win doesn't mean as much."
DeBoer also mentioned Vanderbilt is "playing team football." DeBoer also called the defense "solid."
Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell noted how mobile Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia is, even drawing comparisons to a quarterback that has given Alabama troubles in the past, Johnny Manziel.
DeBoer had the final message for Alabama ahead of Vanderbilt:
"They’re a very talented team that could easily be 4-0," DeBoer said. Vanderbilt lost by four points to Georgia State on the road and lost to No. 9 Missouri in double overtime by three, also on the road.
What was Alabama's word of the week? "Consistent" DeBoer said.
The final statement from Kalen DeBoer: "We haven’t come close to playing our best football.”
Alabama will travel to Nashville this Saturday for a road date with the Vanderbilt Commodores at 3:15 p.m. CT. You can listen to the game for free on the Tide 100.9 app.
