According to Alex Scarborough and John Talty of 247 Sports, the SEC will move towards adopting a mandatory injury report for the 2024 football season.

The decision was discussed during SEC Spring Meetings, but Commissioner Greg Sankey said a decision would not be made during that week.

While the injury report is not officially approved and implemented, Scarborough and Talty are reporting that the details are almost finalized and will be implemented before the start of the 2024 season.

In 2023, the Big 10 became the first Power Five conference to implement an injury report - designed to protect the integrity of college football with respect to modern sports gambling. The weekly report will have two categories for players: questionable or out. The NFL has three designations: questionable, doubtful, and out.

LSU and Florida were ahead of the curve last season, with both schools releasing weekly injury reports last season. The rest of the SEC did not follow suit.
