Jarin Stevenson Is Back
Alabama basketball started the day with three players set to head to the NBA. Alabama basketball will finish the day with just one player entering the NBA draft after Mark Sears announced his decision to return to Alabama.
Jarin Stevenson was the lone player that Alabama was waiting on a decision from late on Wednesday night. Wait no more, Alabama fans. The final domino fell, and Jarin Stevenson will return to Alabama according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, rounding out potentially the best roster in the country.
The freshman from Chapel Hill, North Carolina played in all 37 games for Alabama last season but only totaled 5.3 points per game, 2.7 rebounds per game, and 0.4 assists per game. Stevenson elevated his play when he needed to, however, scoring a season and career-high 19 points in Alabama's Elite Eight win over the Clemson Tigers.
Despite Stevenson playing his best on the big stage, and his declaration to the draft, Stevenson did not get an NBA combine invite nor is he appearing in any NBA mock drafts. Stevenson would also have been in a two-way situation similar to Mark Sears, in which Alabama could compete monetarily against a two-way deal.
The Crimson Tide will have 13 scholarship players on roster for the 2024-2025 season. Tide 100.9 has a list of all of Alabama's offseason moves here.
The deepest roster in the country got deeper, and Alabama fans can rest easy tonight knowing there are no more draft decisions to be made.
