The NFL recently handed former Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams a two-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

This isn't the first time Williams has been suspended by the league, previously earning a four-game suspension for breaking the NFL's rules on gambling in 2022 after betting on non-NFL games.

Williams formerly planned to appeal the suspension; however, the Detroit wideout released a statement early Thursday afternoon via his agent, Rocky Arceneaux, that he intends to accept the NFL's punishment.

"This week, I was notified by the NFL that I have been suspended for a violation of the Performance Enhancing Substances Policy." said Williams. "The news came as a complete surprise that I am still trying to understand."

"I don't take supplements or vitamins and I am overly cautious about event taking over-the-counter medicine. At no time have I ever taken something in an attempt to cheat or look for an unfair advantage. I understand that I am responsible for everything that goes into my body, and I have to take accountability in this instance.

"I have nothing but love and respect for this game, my teammates, coaches, the Lions organization and the city of Detroit. It is disappointing to accept this suspension, and it will hurt me to be away from the team as they prepare this week. So out of respect to my teammates, this will be the last time I address this matter." stated Williams Thursday afternoon.

The former first-round selection has had a solid first half of the season, recording 361 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Both stats rank No. 2 on the Lions.

Williams has struggled to stay on the field throughout the beginning of his NFL career, either due to suspension or injury. Regardless, Williams is one of the most explosive players in the National Football League when on the field.
