Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel spoke to the media earlier in October, indicating Tagovailoa would play again in 2024, but did not provide a specific timetable.

On Monday, it was announced the Miami Dolphins would designate Tagovailoa to return from injured reserve. The hope is that he will be healthy and able to play in the Dolphins game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, October 27, at Noon CT.

Tagovailoa was placed on injured reserve (IR) following the loss to the Bills. He's eligible to return to action on October 23, when the Dolphins take on the Arizona Cardinals.

When healthy, Tagovailoa is a top quarterback in the NFL, passing for 4,624 yards and 29 touchdowns in 17 games in 2023. This offseason, he signed a four-year, $212.4 million contract extension, making him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in NFL history.

The Dolphins have needed Tagovailoa in the lineup, with the Dolphins going 1-4 in games that Tagovailoa did not finish.

The top two targets for Miami, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, have struggled without him in the lineup.

Hill's best game came in the Dolphins victory over the New England Patriots, where he recorded six catches for 69 yards. He has not caught a touchdown since Tagovailoa left the lineup.

Waddle's best game came in the same victory over the Patriots, where he recorded four catches for 46 yards.

The top two targets for Miami will certainly be ready for Tagovailoa to re-enter the lineup.
