Bulldogs Dealing with Injuries Ahead of Clash with Crimson Tide
The bye week could not have come at a better time for Alabama and Georgia, with both teams dealing with major injuries ahead of the monumental matchup.
We know about Alabama's injuries, and it seems like the starters have all avoided something serious, however, the same can't be said for Georgia.
Several key contributors are banged up for the Bulldogs. Who's on the injury report with 10 days until the Crimson Tide clash with the Bulldogs?
Tate Ratledge - Starting Right Guard
According to Dawgs 247, Georgia right guard Tate Ratledge suffered a high ankle sprain and MCL sprain during the second quarter of Georgia's 13-12 win over Kentucky. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart confirmed Ratledge underwent tightrope surgery to repair the high ankle sprain.
A high ankle sprain can be tricky. Former Georgia tight end Brock Bowers suffered the same injury last season and returned to action 26 days following surgery, although he did not also suffer a. MCL sprain. Typically the recovery time from a tightrope surgery is four-to-six weeks.
Alabama has also had a run-in with tightrope surgery. Former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had tightrope surgery following the Crimson Tide's 35-13 win over the Tennessee Volunteers in 2019. Tagovailoa returned to action 14 days later when Alabama faced LSU at home.
Ratledge started 12 of 13 possible games last season for Georgia, missing the Georgia Tech game due to injury. He was voted All-SEC First Team in 2023.
Carson Beck - Starting Quarterback
According to Dawg Post, starting Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is dealing with an AC Joint Sprain in his non-throwing shoulder. Beck was seen favoring his left shoulder in the post-game interview on television.
Kirby Smart said on Beck's injury, "We’ve had like seven (AC joint) injuries. That's not a significant or major injury. Carson's fine - he's practiced both days.”
Defensive Line Injuries
According to UGA Rivals, "Smart said defensive linemen Mykel Williams, Warren Brinson, and Jordan Hall are all working towards returning. Brinson is doing stuff now and is "very close", while Williams and Hall are running.
Trevor Etienne
Georgia running back Trevor Etienne also left Georgia's win against Kentucky with a shoulder injury, but he did return.
