CHAROLETTE, N.C.- The Carolina Panthers returned from their bye week to prepare for the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Before the break, the Panthers secured a victory against the New York Giants in Munich, with Bryce Young stepping up as the starting quarterback.

Young was replaced by Andy Dalton in week three after the Panthers began the season with a 0-2 record, having been outscored 73-13. However, after Dalton suffered a thumb injury in a car accident, Young reclaimed his starting position and has held onto it since.

Following the win over the Giants, head coach Dave Canales refrained from naming a starter for the upcoming game against the Chiefs. Nevertheless, Young has made a strong case for himself, posting a 2-3 record after regaining the starting spot, including a victory over the New Orleans Saints that featured a game-winning touchdown drive. And the second win in Munich, where he completed 15 of 25 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown.

After thorough evaluations leading up to the matchup against the Chiefs, Canales officially named Young the starter on Monday as the team returned to practice. This will be Young's fourth consecutive start this season.

Canales noted that he has observed growing chemistry between Young and the team's rookie receivers, Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker. Additionally, a connection is forming between Young and running back Chuba Hubbard, who had a standout performance in Munich thanks to their collaboration.

When players are aligned, Canales believes he can call more plays that will allow Young to throw downfield and challenge the defense. "It’s on me giving him more opportunities to take those looks down there,” Canales said. “And it’s about the chemistry with the guys and how to throw different balls to different receivers with their skill sets. It’s a chemistry thing, and also myself (as a play caller) finding those opportunities to attack the defense.”

As the Panthers' season progresses, Canales has not yet reached a final decision and will keep assessing the quarterback situation on a weekly basis.
