Bryce Young Promoted Ahead of Panthers Minicamp
Former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has been promoted in the quarterback spot ahead of the Carolina Panthers minicamp.
"Bryce has taken snaps with the one's this week," said Panthers head coach Frank Reich. "That was something at the beginning Scott and I earmarked, a time when we thought would be best, kinda mapping out, talked it through with the staff. At the beginning of the offseason, this was kind of the time we had marked, this week to move him up. It's just the next step. There's really nothing to say than 'hey we just wanted to move him up this week,' felt like it's been the right time."
Young was drafted as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Panthers after spending three seasons at the Capstone. He went 624-of-949 for 8,356 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, as well as 139 rush attempts for 162 yards and seven touchdowns.
Young is projected to be the starting quarterback for the Panthers as their depth chart lists him as quarterback No. 1, followed by Andy Dalton in the backup spot, and Matt Corral at No. 3.
Young is set to play in Carolina with former Alabama players Bradley Bozeman and Deonte Brown.
