Amari Cooper & Browns Agree To Deal
When you think about great receivers from the University of Alabama, you don't go very long without naming Amari Cooper. The South Florida native was a five-star wide receiver when he committed to Alabama, and lived up to the hype during his time in Tuscaloosa.
Cooper tallied 228 receptions, 3,463 yards, and 31 total touchdowns during his time with the Crimson Tide. Cooper was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2014, placing third for the award. The Oakland Raiders drafted him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
Cooper has been traded twice in his career. The Dallas Cowboys traded for him during the 2018 season, and then the Browns traded for him ahead of the 2022 season.
Now entering his third year in Cleveland, Cooper has been holding out of Browns training camp in hopes of a new contract.
According to Jordan Schultz, the Cleveland Browns and Amari Cooper agreed to a restructured one-year contract worth up to $25 million.
Cooper is a five-time pro bowler and tallied a career-high 1,250 yards and five touchdowns last season for the Browns.
Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson now gets his top target back, with Cooper now expected to end his holdout with his new deal. He'll join Jerry Jeudy and the rest of the Cleveland Browns receiving core at training camp.
