Alabama Names 2024 Team Captains

The Alabama Crimson Tide Football team has named its four permanent captains for the 2024 football season, and it's the four obvious choices.

The four players were members of the leadership team that helped keep the Crimson Tide's roster together following the opening of the transfer portal for 30 days when Nick Saban retired. Deontae Lawson, Tyler Booker, Malachi Moore, and Jalen Milroe were named the permanent team captains for the 2024 season at the University of Alabama.

Milroe and Moore were permanent captains last season for Alabama.

Milroe is the starting quarterback for Alabama and a potential Heisman Trophy candidate for the 2024 season. In 2023, Milroe passed for 2,834 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 468 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Moore is one of the few players on the roster who have a national championship ring from the 2020 season. He returned to Alabama for his fifth and final season in 2024, and coined the iconic phrase, "If they ain't wearing Crimson..." that Alabama has used as its mantra following the opening of the transfer portal. He had 48 tackles, four pass breakups, and one pick in 2023.

Lawson wears the green dot for Alabama's defense as the returning Mike linebacker. He finished 2023 as a semifinalist for the Butkus Award - given annually to the best linebacker in college football. He totaled 61 tackles, three sacks, and two pass breakups in 2023.

Booker has been a staple along the offensive line for Alabama for two seasons. While linemen don't record stats as often as other positions, Booker has helped protect the blindside of two Alabama starting quarterbacks - Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe.
