Barney, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback from Carrollton, Georgia, had been committed to Alabama since May 2024.

Barney earned an offer from the Crimson Tide during an unofficial visit on March 6. According to composite, Barney is the No. 4 overall cornerback in the country and a top-90 prospect.

Barney had committed to Alabama over Ohio State, Florida, and USC.

His primary recruiter was Alabama defensive back coach Maurice Linguist.

In 2022, Barney totaled 32 tackles, 8 INT, and 6 PBU as a 9th grader at Eagle’s Landing Christina Academy

Alabama's only commitment in the class of 2026 is now four-star defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland from Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama.

It is still early in the recruiting cycle for the 2026 class, and it will still be over a calendar year until this class signs on the dotted line.
