2026 5-Star Edge Places Bama In Top Five

Zion Elee announced his top five schools this past weekend, and the Alabama Crimson Tide is among them.

Elee is one of the most highly touted Edges in his class, ranking 19th in the nation in the 2026 class.

With wide receiver-like speed and hands, Elee accelerates off the line and easily rips through defenders. As a result, teams are forced to double or even triple-team him.

At 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds, Zion Elee possesses the physical attributes to pose a significant challenge for any SEC quarterback.

According to Elee's 247 scouting report by Hudson Standish, a National Analyst at 247 Sports, Standish states "It feels as if he was built in the lab to get after the quarterback."

This potential recruitment would be a major addition to the Tide's 2026 recruiting class, which currently ranks 28th in the nation and 12th in the SEC.

The 19th-ranked prospect in the class will enter his junior season this fall with a new team and will face tougher competition.

Elee transferred to the Baltimore powerhouse St. Francis after playing his sophomore season at 1A Joppatowne in Maryland. He had an impressive performance last year at Joppatowne, recording 13 sacks and 24 tackles for loss, according to 247 Sports. The Crimson Tide is one of the five final teams that made the 2026 Edge's list.

This list includes the Georgia Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Penn State Nittany Lions. The Alabama Crimson Tide, which offered Elee in April, stood out as the nation's top recruit.

With that being said, it is still early in the 2026 Edge's recruiting stage, and there isn't a clear favorite.

The #2 prospect in the state of Maryland is set to join his new team in their quest for a championship.

Elee will have the opportunity to compete against D1 competition as St. Francis is scheduled to play against two top 5 teams: the #3 ranked IMG Academy Ascenders (Bradenton, FL) and the #1 ranked Mater Dei Monarchs (Santa Ana, CA).
