Interstate Construction to Close a Portion of McFarland Boulevard This Weekend

ALDOT has started work to demolish the eastbound bridge on Interstate 20/59 at Exit 73 this week, and the project will cause traffic delays throughout the week.

Eastbound traffic will shift onto the new bridge beginning tonight (April 23, 2019) and limited lane closures will occur during the shift. After the shift is completed, two lanes of traffic will be open in both directions as well as exit and entrance ramps.

As part of the roadwork, a portion of McFarland Boulevard will close in both directions this weekend. The portion of McFarland Boulevard located directly underneath the interstate will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday (April 26) through 5 a.m. Monday (April 29). Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes such as Skyland Boulevard, I-359, or Highway 215.
