As Spring Break 2015 gets underway, we dig up the party song from Spring Break 2005. Headed back a decade to 'holla' for this B101.7 Flashback Friday spotlight!

Almost to the day, in March 2005, Gwen Stefani released the care free pop anthem, 'Hollaback Girl.' A song written in part by Gwen, but also somebody you may recognize for his recent hit 'Happy.' Yeah, Pharrell Williams also co-wrote 'Hollaback Girl.' Most people don't know that it was intended as a response to Courtney Love called Gwen a cheerleader during a Seventeen magazine interview. So, she played up the role!

'Hollaback Girl' would climb up into the Top 10 and become one of the biggest hits of 2005! A special milestone too, as noted in Wikipedia, where the song became the first digital download to sell one million copies. It was also land Gwen Stefani nominations for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Record of the Year.
