Happy Birthday To Alabama Crimson Tide Alumni Najee Harris
It's a very special day for one Crimson Tide alumni. Najee Harris, former Alabama running back now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, has turned 24! While his pro career is only one year old, he's already making waves in the NFL.
Before he wore the black and gold, however, Harris was rushing (and hurdling!) many in college football. Many remember his hurdle in the Rose Bowl, where he completely jumped over a Notre Dame defender in another outstanding performance in the crimson and white:
Side note, that hurdle is still ridiculous to watch to this day.
Najee also received the Doak Walker award in 2020, being named the nation's best running back. After capping off his senior season with a national championship win over Ohio State, Harris was projected to go in the first round of the NFL Draft.
With the 24th overall pick, Najee Harris became a Steeler. He certainly did not disappoint in his rookie campaign.
Najee had 307 carries amassing 1,200 yards on the dot. He also scored 10 touchdowns. The 1,200 yards he accumulated also set a new rookie record for the Steelers, breaking Franco Harris's record of 1,055 yards which was set in 1972.
Steelers writers also noticed Harris's efforts, and he was voted the 2021 Joe Greene Great Performance Award winner. He also earned enough Pro Bowl votes to be named an alternate for the NFL's all-star game.
Needless to say, Najee's future in the NFL is looking very bright. Here's to more hurdles by Harris, but first, Happy birthday Najee!
