I took my six-year-old to a trick-or-treat event in town this weekend, and I have to say I was majorly bummed by the behavior of some local kids. I know I am about to sound like someone who's gonna tell you to get off my lawn, but hear me out, y'all: whatever happened to having manners in public?

My husband and I took our little girl to this outdoor trick-or-treat event. Kids got to walk up and down trails; there were candy buckets placed throughout the trails, and before you set off on your Halloween adventure, staff told kids they could take one piece of candy from each bucket they passed.

Sounds great in theory, right?

About 85% of the buckets we encountered were EMPTY--and this was about 15 minutes into the event. I'm not going to diss the event organizers, because they did a great job. The issue was that kids would empty an entire bucket of candy into their bags--with their own parents standing there watching.

Like, really? I know kids will be kids--especially when candy is involved--but cleaning the whole place out is not cool. If I would have tried this, my mom would have put the fear of God into me.

Am I crazy? Is this just an uptight mom thing? What do y'all think?
